(Asimov, Isaac; Jeppson, J.O.; Malzberg, Barry N.; Wellen, Ed). Greenberg, Martin H.; editor.
Foundation's Friends. Stories in Honor of Isaac Asimov. Edited by Martin H. Greenberg. Preface by Ray Bradbury. Afterword by Isaac Asimov. [Advance Printing of 144 Copies Signed by Asimov, Jeppson, Malzberg, Greenberg and Wellen. ]
New York, NY: Tom Doherty Associates, 1989. 1989. ADVANCE PRINTING SIGNED BY ISAAC ASIMOV, HIS WIFE JANET OPAL JEPPSON ASIMOV, BARRY N. MALZBERG, MARTIN H. GREENBERG & EDWARD WELLEN - Octavo, 9 3/4 inches high by 6 1/4 inches wide. Black boards backed with blue cloth spine, titled in silver on the spine, in a color pictorial dust wrapper which features caricatures of some of the anthology's authors. The edges of the dust jacket are lightly creased. [10] & 403 pages. Discreet yellow tabs are affixed to the tops of 3 pages identifying those with signatures. There is a tiny chip to the top edge of the title page. A very good bright copy.

First edition, first printing with a full number line.

From the library of Ed Wellen. Inscribed to Wellen by Asimov, J.O. Jeppson Asimov, Martin H. Greenberg and Barry N. Malzberg. Signed by Edward Wellen on the front pastedown and at his contribution in the book. Wellen is the author of "An Hour To Kill" and he contributed a story for this anthology, "Murder in the Urth Degree". The anthologist Martin H. Greenberg was a longtime friend and colleague of Asimov. Barry N. Malzberg is the science fiction author of "Beyond Apollo" and "The Bend at the End of the Road". Science fiction writer J.O. Jeppson (Janet Opal Asimov) was the wife of Isaac Asimov.

This copy of the book is one of an advance printing of 144 copies produced for New York is Book Country. It is so identified by initials on page 50 and the lack of a bar code on the back of the dust wrapper. (REF: "The Locus Index to Science Fiction: 1984-1998".)

Laid in the book is an invitation from Tor Books (a division of Tom Doherty Associates) to a "Publication Party" in honor of Asimov and "Foundation's Friends". Also a place marker for Ed Wellen at "table 1". Very good .
